REENACTORS & PARTICIPANTS


    We are pleased to invite you to join us at "The Carolina Campaign" - the 161st Anniversary of the Skirmish of Gamble's Hotel at the Historic 1857 Johnson-Rankin House near Florence, South Carolina. We will be providing reenactors & participants with the standard amenities of water and firewood, as well as a meal and dance Saturday evening. The site is conveniently located a short drive from the town and interstate allowing participants the ability to either remain in camp and enjoy camaraderie away from town, or to make a short trip to visit the local establishments.

    Confederate Forces. The Confederate Forces will be representing the 3rd South Carolina Cavlary and 5th Tennessee Cavalry Regiments, the South Carolina Reserve Battalions and the State Militia who were called out in January & February 1865.

    Federal Forces. The Federal Forces will be representing the 546-men of the command of Colonel Reuben Williams, consisting of the 7th & 9th Illinois and 29th Missouri Mounted Infantry Regiments, as well as three detachments of foragers from each division of the 15th Army Corps.

    Artillery. All Artillery will be restricted to full size pieces; no mortars, howitzers, or half scale pieces. There will be spots available for four (4) Confederate and four (4) Federals guns, once these are filled, a waiting list will be established for those wishing to be placed on it.     Civilians. All civilians will be representing the citizens of the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina in February 1865.

    Living History Area. There will be a designated living history area, separate of the camps. This will be a high visibility area where participants can setup displays on various aspects of the 1860 to 1865 period, and where the public can visit and interact with you. All displays and setups should be non-political, and relevant to the period, focusing on the everyday soldiers and citizens. If you or your group is interested in setting up in the living history area, holding a demonstration, or giving a presentation, please contact the Event Coordinator for additional information regarding layouts, standards, and answers to any and all questions or concerns.


Reenactor Registration

    Reenactor Registration opens on April 1st, 2025; all participants will need to review the Rules and Regulations before registering. By submitting your registration, you are agreeing to abide by all rules and regulations of the event.

    Your registration will be completed once you have submitted the registration form, either online or by mail (PDF), and have paid the registration fee. The registration fees are as follows, and include the Saturday evening Meal and Barn Dance.
