  REGIMENTAL TIMELINE

 
December 16th, 1862: The regiment is organized by the consolidation of the Tenth (10th) & Twelfth (12th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Battalions and the Charleston Light Dragoons and Santee Mounted Riflemen as the Fourth (4th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Regiment.

December 1862 to March 1864: Served in the defense of Coastal South Carolina.

April 9th, 1863: Engaged in the attack on, and destruction of, the USS George Washington near Beaufort, South Carolina.

June 2nd, 1863: Engaged along the Combahee River, South Carolina.

June 4th, 1863: Engaged in the resisting the expedition from Fort Pulaski, Georgia, to Bluffton, South Carolina.

September 13th & 14th, 1863: Engaged at Lowndes Mill along the Combahee River, South Carolina.

November 24th, 1863: Engaged at Cunninghams Bluff, South Carolina.

May to June 1864: Served in the Overland Campaign (Virginia).

May 28th, 1864: Engaged at Hawes Shop, Virginia

June 1st to 3rd, 1864: Engaged at Cold Harbor, Virginia.

June 1864 to January 1865: Served in the Siege of Richmond & Petersburg, Virginia.

October 1st, 1864: Engaged along the Vaughan Road near Petersburg, Virginia

January to April 1865: Served in the Carolina's Campaign.

March 10th, 1865: Engaged at Monroe's Crossroads, North Carolina.

March 19th to 21st, 1865: Engaged at Bentonville, North Carolina.

April 26th, 1865: The regiment surrendered as part of the Army of Tennessee at Durham Station, North Carolina.
