What do I need and where do I get it?

For new recruits attending for the first time, the company has loaner uniforms and equipment available to help you get started. There is an expectation that new recruits will obtain their own equipment within a reasonable amount of time, for example your basic uniform (clothing) should be obtained within your first year.

To help new recruits get started in the hobby, we have created the following guide that outlines the basics to help you get started in the world of reenacting.

Part 1 - Uniform
Part 2 - Equipment & Arms
Part 3 - Camping Equipment
Part 4 - Civilian (Women)
Part 5 - Civilian (Men)
Part 6 - Civilian (Children)

The duties of the Quartermaster are carried on by several, Officers and NCO's all help ensure that the men are properly armed, equipment and instructed in the care of their equipment. For the first time reenactor the company has a supply of loaner uniforms, arms, and equipment to allow you to try the hobby before investing in equipment. Once you decide that you would like to continue in the hobby this equipment will be available for a time to help you as you move forward; new recruits are expected to have their basic uniform (clothing) within the first year, their basic accoutrements within a year and a half, and their rifle within two to three years.
The Ordnance Department is in charge of those duties connected with weapons and ammunition, in the Company the duties of the Ordnance Department fall on several members, the First Sergeant oversees the inspection and care of the arms (rifles and bayonets), the Company Clerk handles the ordering of black powder and percussion caps for the members, while the Sergeant's and Corporal's ensure that all those falling into line have sufficient powder and caps. The Ordnance Department also arranges company workshops for the purpose of making rounds for events, and ensuring that they are properly constructed.
The Commissary is in charge of the Company Cook, who coordinates the company mess (meal plan). This helps members save money and prevents waste, as instead of buying a weekends supply of food, you pay a nominal fee for the weekend's meals; and at the end of the event you are left with a surplus of foodstuffs that may be thrown out. The Company Mess saves on the items that you need bring, reducing the need for inaccurate (farby) items such as coolers, and surplus items like pots, pans, etc. The company mess is optional and available to all who fall in with us, however, you must sign up before the event.
