April 3rd, 1862: The company was enlisted at Marlboro, South Carolina, by Captain Alexander D. Sparks, being organized with volunteers from Marlboro & Marion Counties.

April 1862: The company is attached to the Twentieth (20th) South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment and designated as Company L on James Island near Charleston, South Carolina.

April 1862 to February 1865: Served in the operations in and around Charleston, South Carolina

July 10th, 1863: A detachment of the company is engaged on Morris Island, losing all of their clothing and camp equipment.

April 30th, 1863: Detached from the 20th South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment and designated as Spark's Company of South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry.

December 20th, 1864: The company is attached to, and designated as Company E of, the Nineteenth (19th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Battalion, per Paragraph 2, Special Order No. 301, Adjutant & Inspector Generals Office, Richmond, Virginia.

Bolton - (80) eighty-uniforms (pants, jackets, caps); (80) eighty pair socks; (80) eighty shirts; (35) thirty-five pair shoes (all sewed); (10) ten camp kettles; (12) twelve mess pans; (5) five canteens; (2) two knapsacks; (3) three haversacks.

  •     Requisition issued in full on December 10th, 1862, on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.

  • Special Requisition No. 40 - No. 127, Abstract K. 4th Qr. 1863 - Capt. A.D. Sparks - (20) twenty cavalry jackets; (20) twenty pairs of pants; (20) twenty pairs of drawers; (20) twenty flannel shirts; (20) twenty pairs of shoes; (20) twenty blankets.

  •     Requisition issued in full on February 18th, 1863, at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

  • Special Requisition No. 40 - No. 19, Abstract K. 1st Qr. 1863 - 1st Lt. C.P. Bolton - (10) ten axes; (10) ten shovels; (ten) 10 lbs. nails; (4) four mule collars (for train); (4) four company books; (1) one haversack.

  •     Requisition issued in full on February 23rd, 1863, on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.

  • Special Requisition No. 40 - No. 20, Abstract K. 1st Qr. 1863 - 1st Lt. C.P. Bolton - (25) twenty-five army tents; (5) five wall tents; (2) two camp kettles; (2) two mess pans; (100) one hundred pairs of shoes.

  •     Requisition issued in full on February 28th, 1863, at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

  • Special Requisition No. 40 - No. 148, Abstract K. 1st Qr. 1863 - Capt. A.D. Sparks - (80) eighty curry combs and brushes; (80) eighty saddle blankets; (4) four lanterns; (1) one bugle; (80) eighty pairs of spur straps.

  •     Requisition partially issued on March 4th, 1863, at Charleston, South Carolina, the blankets not being authorized.
