April to June 1862: 2nd Military District of South Carolina, Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida
June to July 1862: 1st Military District of South Carolina, Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida
January 29th to February 7th, 1862: The battalion is organized in Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina, and was designated as the Fourth (4th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Battalion, also known as the Third (3rd) and Easley's Squadron.
January 29th, 1862: Company A is mustered into service at Camp Hampton near Columbia, South Carolina.
February 7th, 1862: Company D is mustered into service at Camp Gist near Charleston, South Carolina.
January to July 1862: Served in the defense of Coastal South Carolina.
July to August 1862: Served in Virginia.
August 22nd, 1862: The battalion is consolidated with the Cavalry Battalion of Hamptons Legion, the Bonham Light Dragoons, and the Boykin Mounted Rangers, and designated as the Second (2nd) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, per Special Order No. 196, Adjutant & Inspector General's Office, War Department, Richmond, Virginia.
Company A is designated as Company F of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment
Company B is designated as Company C of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment
Company C is designated as Company E of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment
Company D is designated as Company D of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment
