January to June 1862 - 2nd Military District of South Carolina, Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida
June to July 1862 - James Island, 1st Military District of South Carolina, Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida
July to September 1862 - 1st Military District of South Carolina, Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida
May 25th, 1862: The battalion is organized under Major Stephen D.M. Byrd at McClellanville, South Carolina, from three (3) companies formerly attached to Manigault's Battalion of South Carolina Volunteers. Around this same time the Santee Light Artillery and the two companies of the St. James Mounted Riflemen are temporarily attached to the battalion for service defending the coastal region north of the Santee River, South Carolina.
May to September 1862: Served on duty along Coastal South Carolina.
June 22nd, 1862: Company C moves camp from McClellanville to Camp Warren on the Santee River, South Carolina.
June 26th, 1862: Company B is engaged in the action against a Federal Steamer along the South Santee River, South Carolina.
June 27th, 1862: Company B is engaged in the skirmish near the Alvarado House and Blake's Plantation along the South Santee River, South Carolina.
September 9th, 1862: Consolidated with the Ninth (9th) Infantry Battalion and designated as the Twenty-Sixth (26th) South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
Company A is designated as Company C of the 26th Infantry Regiment
Company B is designated as Company H of the 26th Infantry Regiment
Company C is designated as Company I of the 26th Infantry Regiment
