The following historical information is about the service of both the regiment, and the men, of the Seventh (7th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Regiment, which served in the American Civil War from March 18th, 1864, to April 10th, 1865.   REGIMENTAL TIMELINE

 
March 18th, 1864: The regiment is organized by the consolidation of the Cavalry Battalion of Holcombe's Legion (5 companies), the Rutledge Mounted Riflemen (2 companies), Marion's Men of Winyah (2 companies), and one company from Boykin's Squadron of Mounted Rifles; per Special Order No. 65, Adjutant & Inspector General's Office, Richmond, Virginia.

June 1864 to April 2nd, 1865: Served in the Defense of Richmond & Petersburg (Virginia)

September 20th, 1864: Engaged at Roper's Farm

September 29th, 1864: Engaged at New Market Heights

April 2nd to 10th, 1865: Served in the Appomattox Campaign (Virginia)

April 6th, 1865: Engaged at Sailor's Creek, Virginia

April 9th, 1865: Surrendered with the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia.

April 10th, 1865: Paroled at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia.
